Several highly accurate hits have been recorded during the tests which are part of the weapon’s ongoing development programme and also featured the use of a new light-weight, carbon fibre launching tube developed MBDA Italy. Conducted on ranges of between 1,000m and 2,000m, the tests have reinforced expectations on the accuracy of the Enforcer ’s homing head, with strikes direct to the centre of each intended target.
“These tests have topped off a successful year of Enforcer development, a year we can look back on and recognise numerous successful firings and other tests,” said Peter Heilmeier, MBDA Deutschland’s Vice President Sales and Business Development. “The direct hits demonstrate that we have made an important step forward in the development programme.”
Development of the missile will continue for the next few years, with MBDA particularly interested in developing its night fighting capability. More tests are planned for next year towards the weapon’s qualification.
