The ADS has reported that the aerospace industry in the UK hit new heights in August, that could see record levels as order books continue to grow.

Aerospace is essential to the economic and industrial well-being of the UK.

Delivery rates are just one per cent behind the record levels seen in 2015, with industry focussing on stepping up production in response to growing order backlogs, which currently stand at 13,402, worth £210bn to the UK.

Further increase can be seen in single-aisle production levels and engine deliveries. Single-aisle production has increased 23% on last year, indicating the industry has transitioned smoothly to the new fuel efficient aircraft demanded by airlines. While engine deliveries are also up, seeing a rise of 11% for August 2016.

Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of ADS Group, commented: “Aerospace is essential to the economic and industrial well-being of the UK; it continues to generate growth and new business opportunities. Despite some uncertainty across the global economy 2016 looks set to be another year of good performance and strong demand.

“The great work being done by the Aerospace Growth Partnership and the strong support for industrial strategy by the Prime Minister continues to make the UK one of the best places for the aerospace industry to do business. In the run up to the Autumn Statement ADS will be asking the Chancellor to provide the incentives and support to overcome any uncertainties associated with the decision to leave the European Union.”
