As part of our countdown to DPRTE Engage 2020 taking place on 3rd September, Defence Online chatted with James Pettitt, European Sales Director, at Commerce Decisions about the Company’s hopes for the hotly-anticipated virtual defence procurement event.

· What opportunities do events like DPRTE Engage 2020 afford the defence community?

DPRTE is a unique opportunity to network with both buyers and suppliers from across the defence supply chain. This year’s interactive online platform will provide a number of new ways for us to chat to many of our colleagues from across the defence industry and to connect with those that are new to the event or the sector.

· What does Commerce Decisions have on the agenda this year?

At this year’s event we’ll be speaking once again in the Technology and Innovation Zone. In our presentation ‘Achieving Better Outcomes is a Two-Way Street’ we’ll share best practice on aligning bidders and buyers on complex procurements to achieve best possible outcomes. We look forward to engaging with many of the key decision makers who are responsible for some of the most complex and high value defence projects and to discussing the ways we can support them to deliver the best value for money.

For the MOD audience we’ll be sharing the latest AWARD® updates, as well as details of the complimentary training available as part of our ongoing corporate agreement.

And for Bidders we’ll be announcing our Win Themes webinar, where we’ll share best practice tips for developing winning Win Themes which are an integral part of a winning bid strategy.

· Tell us more about Commerce Decisions’ role in defence industry procurement.

To date, we have successfully supported over 1,700 MOD projects with strategic tender evaluation. Together with our defence clients, we manage some of the most complex and technologically advanced military requirements in the world. We’re here to support complex procurement processes, from the early planning and preparation stages, as well as the execution, evaluation, negotiation and handover to contract management. It’s what we’ve been doing with the UK Ministry of Defence since 2001. Now under a corporate license, AWARD® is deployed within the UK MOD as their preferred solution for strategic tender evaluation.

But it’s not just the UK MOD – we’re working with some of the largest defence organisations across the globe, including the Canadian and Australian Departments of National Defence – to ensure that efficiencies are maximised and robust reporting and clear audit trails protect the most complex projects from challenge.

· What are Commerce Decisions’ hopes for the event?

Our long-standing relationship with the MOD, combined with an in-depth experience of complex procurement, makes DPRTE a must-attend event for us. It’s a great platform to chat to attendees from across the defence industry and it’s particularly exciting to be part of the new digital format this year. We’re looking forward to the event providing lots of new ways for us to share what’s new and chat to colleagues, whether it’s via a 1-2-1 meeting, a chat on our stand or at our presentation: ‘Achieving Better Outcomes is a Two-Way Street’. In this expert-led session

we’ll be discussing the importance of aligning bidders and buyers on complex procurements and exploring ways they can achieve best possible outcomes together.

Drawing on our experience of 20 years working with public sector procurement project teams, we’ll share some of our learnings and the best practice approaches to overcoming these challenges.

We’ll also be presenting at 12:00 in the Technology and Innovation Zone where James Pettitt, European Account Director and Dipesh Patel, Account Director – Commercial/Defence Sector, will share the latest thinking on supporting buyers and bidders to achieving best possible outcomes. · What are you most looking forward to during DPRTE Engage 2020?

As always DPRTE is a great forum to pass on some of the lessons we’ve learned from almost 20 years supporting MOD projects. And whilst the online format will make it a very different experience this year, this new platform will provide a great forum to catch up with users, introduce newcomers and showcase the latest features from our AWARD® and ADVANCE™ solutions.
