The 2020 Defence Sustainability Challenge will allow researchers to submit ideas that improve recycling, reusing, and waste reduction processes within the MOD. The Joint Information Group Vanguard (JIG-V) is seeking radical proposals that identify areas where Defence could achieve reductions in environmental footprint, whilst still achieving its objectives.
This could be through new technologies, innovations in policy, process or procedure, or through other previously unexplored options. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is committed to assisting UK efforts to meet the net zero carbon target for 2050.
Team Defence are inviting groups or individuals from Academia, MOD and Industry to submit their ideas in the form of 1 PowerPoint slide. Submissions can contain any media required to share your idea including text, diagrams, audio and video.
Ten of the most-promising ideas will be selected to pitch to Senior Defence personnel and other VIPs at the LOGNET 20 Defence Logistics Conference to be held from 12-13 March 2020. The finalists will be offered support and connections from Academia, Dstl and MOD to develop and finalise their ideas before they are invited to present to a panel of senior judges from UK MOD who will assess the entries and select the most innovative proposal.
LOGNET 20 is the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD’s) logistics and support enterprise-engagement and future-development event for 2020. LOGNET 20 aims to improve the collective understanding of UK Defence’s support requirements, and to pursue knowledge of academic and commercial capability while reinforcing partnerships nationally and internationally.
