As the finishing touches are put to Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena in anticipation of DPRTE’s 27th March kick-off, Defence Online speaks with the supplier management specialist HICX Solutions to find out more about their plans for the UK’s leading annual defence procurement and supply chain event.

What do HICX Solutions see as being the big topics up for debate at DPRTE 2018?

From our point of view, HICX and the importance of supplier management! In all honesty though, it’s going to be a fascinating event to be a part of, thanks largely to the depth and breadth of those attending. We will be looking to learn about what others are up to, just as much as we will be looking to discuss our offerings.

Costas Xyloyiannis, CEO of HICX, will take to the Technology & Innovation stage to tackle Master Data and the Supplier Lifecycle. Could you tell us a little more about the talk?

The talk itself is going to be set up in a pretty straightforward fashion. The start will run through how BAE Systems and HICX came to be working together. Then it will move onto why the solution has been so important for BAE Systems, touching on the significance of cultural change and leadership buy in. This will be concluded with a reflection on some of the ROI achievements and lessons learnt.

Costas will then run through our philosophy and on where we have seen success in recent years with a particular focus on Supplier Master Data. A Q&A session should round things off nicely.

What else does HICX have in store for DPRTE 2018?

Free, wonderfully branded chocolates. Mints too and if you’re an avid beer drinker, what could be more useful than a bottle opener?

That aside, we have nothing planned per se. We are just looking forward to talking to the other attendees and learning from one another. Supplier Master Data really is the basis of all things procurement and supply chain, so if we can talk about that, hopefully we can have a positive impact.

Could you talk about the role events like DPRTE play when engaging with the wider supply chain?

Our focus is very much the A&D industry and as such this gives us a great opportunity to talk to people within the sector. As with any event, it’s partly talking to potential customers and partly getting our name out there. So for us it’s important to get to these events and let people know how successful we have been in working with leading A&D companies. Win win relationships and great ROI need to be advertised and DPRTE seems to be the place to do just that.

Beyond that, it is a great opportunity to see where the opportunities are. Is our product road map still leading the way, or is there an opportunity we should take advantage of that we have missed? We have always found that it’s important to always be listening and learning. Most especially from those within the industry themselves. If we want to provide the best technology and the best support, these are the events that we need to be attending.
