Taking place at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on 27 March, Defence Procurement, Research, Technology & Exportability (DPRTE) 2018 is the UK’s premier defence procurement event and brings together buyers, suppliers and defence thought leaders in an engaging environment where they can network and discuss the latest market developments and opportunities.
DPRTE 2018 will feature a Technology & Innovation Knowledge Transfer Zone, which will host a series of training sessions aimed at providing an insight into the latest developments and opportunities within this critical area.
Speaking at the zone will be Dr Lucy Mason, Head of the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA), who will discuss how businesses can work with DASA.
Launched in December 2016, DASA was tasked to help government defence and security departments collaborate with industry, academia and allies to rapidly develop innovative solutions to the most pressing national defence and security challenges.
DASA is eager to reach out to non-traditional suppliers who may not realise they have a concept that might be of interest to the defence and security sector or wouldn’t know how to access these industries.
However, Dr Mason is acutely aware of the difficulties facing organisations looking to break into the market.
She explained to Defence Online: “I think it can be really confusing if you’re a little SME that has just set up – how would you know where to go? We really want to reduce barriers and make sure we are a front door for people. They can come to us to get funding or other kinds of support that is going to help defence and security.”
