Niteworks (Replacement) Stakeholder Industry Day

A soldier from 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Wales (2RWELSH) takes part in a virtual military simulation experiment at the Land Warfare Centre in Warminster yesterday (29 Jan). Story: Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion the Royal Welsh (2 R WELSH) have today completed the British Army’s largest ever virtual simulation exercise. Exercise URBAN WARRIOR 5 uses advanced science and technology as part of a cutting-edge experiment designed to help the Army better understand the battlefield of the future. Using virtual simulation at the Land Warfare Centre in Warminster, the Royal Welsh are pioneering future force training. As many as 190 soldiers fought various scenarios, with their every action monitored by a sophisticated system of computers and advanced simulation software. All information was collected for further analysis by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and Niteworks Partnership who have developed the simulation programme.

Notice of Postponement

A Niteworks (Replacement) Stakeholder Industry Day was planned for Friday 9 June 2017. Due to ongoing departmental financial planning and uncertainties presented by the forthcoming general election, it has not been possible to define all elements of the future programme and target operating model with sufficient certainty to expose in detail at this stage. It has therefore been decided to postpone the Niteworks (Replacement) Stakeholder Industry Day.

We remain committed to acquiring a Niteworks (Replacement) capability through competition and our intention is to hold a Niteworks (Replacement) Bidders Conference later this year, following issue of the Invitation to Negotiate.
