Australia is one of the UK’s closest international partners, and while we may be separated geographically, our interests and values are shared. In an increasingly contested world, collaboration and cooperation with our international partners has never been more important.

Following on from the visit of Australia’s Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell earlier this year, Strategic Command was delighted to welcome the Australian Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of Defence Force (SEAC), Warrant Officer Ken Robertson, along with Chief Petty Officer Raelene Henery of the Royal Australian Navy to the United Kingdom.

WO Robertson and CPO Henery initially visited our Northwood Headquarters where they met teams from the Permanent Joint Headquarters to hear about current operations and discussed our work in the cyber and electromagnetic domain.

The visitors then headed to Shrivenham to meet members of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. The Defence Academy delivers world-class professional defence and security education to our Armed Forces, wider government, industry, and military personnel from overseas – including representatives from over 50 international partners, comprising over 2,000 students annually.

This visit helped the UK and Australian representatives share ideas and insights on Joint Professional Military Education. Discussions also focused on educational opportunities on offer for Senior Enlisted Leaders.

To compete with the sophisticated and technological challenges of the future, sharing expertise and ideas with our allies is vital. International educational partnerships are an important part of this.
