Roke has been successful in winning a £4.7M contract with the Ministry of Defence.

The British Army is seeking to uplift its training assessment capability by bringing new insights into the Radio Frequency (RF), Electro-Optic (EO) and Infra-red (IR) emissions associated with battlefield operations.

The competitive contract awarded to Roke is to deliver Project BESTLA which will provide remote observation, surveillance and RF emission collection systems for the British Army’s Land Warfare Centre (LWC).

This service will provide enhanced support to LWC’s Observer Mentors in their training assessment and feedback. Project BESTLA can be used wherever the British Army trains around the world.

The solution builds upon Roke’s established “Electronic Warfare as a Service” (EWaaS) offering, exploiting the RESOLVE and PERCEIVE product lines, and combining with EO/IR surveillance capabilities delivered by Soteria Defence and Security Limited.

The contract has a value of £4.698M for the initial 3 years’ service with options to extend for a further 2 years.

Paul MacGregor, Managing Director of Roke said: “At Roke, we’re proud of our heritage of world-class innovation in support of the defence of our nation.

“Through Project BESTLA, we’ll build on the success of our Electronic Warfare products, RESOLVE and PERCEIVE, to develop new tactical communication solutions for The British Army.

“This will offer a real advantage to the eyes and ears of the troops in their global training missions

“We’re also pleased to be working alongside Soteria Defence and Security Limited on this project. Soteria will provide ex-military personnel with extensive experience of army training exercises to deliver specialised and dynamic consultancy services to Project BESTLA.”
