Yet more big names have been confirmed to appear at Defence Procurement, Research, Technology & Exportability (DPRTE) 2020 taking place at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre on June 23rd.

Airbus and Lockheed Martin will take their place at the DPRTE Supply Chain Engagement Zone alongside QinetiQ and BAE Systems.

The Ministry of Defence manage over £20 billion of third-party procurement spend every year. The size and complexity of many projects requires the Department to work closely with key industry partners to ensure delivery of the defence programme, with over half of the annual spend flowing through their Strategic Suppliers.

The MOD has a target of 25% of spend to go to SMEs. They currently spend approximately £835 million per annum directly with SMEs, but the majority of opportunities lie within the supply chain.

The use of competition is encouraged wherever appropriate both within direct contract opportunities and throughout the supply chain. Opportunities, therefore, exist for suppliers of all sizes, from large established defence contractors through to innovative smaller businesses.

The Supply Chain Engagement Zone will bring together many of the key Prime Contractors currently engaged within the delivery of MOD projects, allowing visitors to book appointments for 1-2-1 meetings. Delegates can also visit the Supply Chain Knowledge Transfer Zone, which will see some of the Prime Contractors deliver sessions on supply chain opportunities available as part of current/future projects.

The recently published Government four-step roadmap outlining plans for the easing of COVID-19 related restrictions across England details the route back to a more normal way of life. Step three, due to begin from 17 May indicates that indoor events can recommence while step four outlines the hope that all legal limits on social contact can be removed.

Taking into account this recent government guidance, we are now preparing for DPRTE 2021 to proceed as planned on 23 June.

Don’t miss out on your chance to meet directly with many of the key Prime Contractors currently engaged within the delivery of MOD projects and gain an insight into potential future sub-contract opportunities.

Taking place at Farnborough International on June 23rd with elements of the event streamed online, DPRTE 2021 is the UK’s leading defence procurement and supply chain event.

For all involved within buying for or supplying to the defence sector, it’s an unmissable opportunity to hear from and engage with industry leaders, influencers and stakeholders.
