The agenda for the Doing Business with the US DoD zone at Defence Procurement, Research, Technology & Exportability (DPRTE) 2020 has been released.

The US DOD will be returning to DPRTE this year and once again delivering a series of sessions designed to provide advice and guidance on how to access the wealth of opportunities available within the world’s largest defence procurement marketplace.

The US defence market is the largest in the world, with a proposed defence procurement budget of over $686 billion for the forthcoming financial year.

The United States Department of Defense’s (DoD) enduring mission is to provide combat-credible military forces needed to deter war and protect the security of the nation. Its National Defense Strategy acknowledges an increasingly complex global security environment, characterised by overt challenges to the free and open international order.

Representatives from the US DoD will be on hand to provide advice and guidance on how to access the wealth of opportunities available within the world’s largest defence procurement marketplace, through a range of training sessions and one-to-one meetings.

Kicking things off will be an introduction from Ben Grinham, First Secretary Defence Acquisition Policy & Trade for British Defence Staff US. He will be followed by Mark C. Hassler II, Associate Director, Global Technology Office for the US Army Combat Capabilities, Development Command who will give a talk on The Foreign Comparative Test Program – the history, the process and the future.

Up next is Kevin Morley, Special Operations Capability, UK Ministry of Defence, USSOCOM Liaison for British Defence Staff US who will provide an overview of the acquisition process at USSOCOM.

LTC Lisbon Williams, Director, International Technology Center – UK for Army Futures Command will then discuss the US Army Modernisation Plan.

Case studies of UK industry success of doing business with the US DoD will be provided by Andrew Wilson, President and CEO of JGW International and Stuart Taylor, President of Stucan Solutions respectively.

Graham McKay from L3Harris; Stuart Porter, Head of Strategic Engagement for Lockheed Martin; and Richard Daniels, CEO of Raytheon UK will each give a session on partnering with a US DoD contractor.

Nicholas Matheson, from MOD legal, will also discuss protecting your IP and implications of ITAR. While Chris Witts, Vice President – Sales from Mountain Horse will take a look at using existing DoD contracting vehicles to leverage your technology.

Claire Harrison, Head of Business Awareness, Expert Control Joint Unit, Department for International Trade will bring things to a close with a talk on export controls.
