Jeremy Quin MP has been appointed as Minister for Defence Procurement, replacing James Heappey who has become the Armed Forces Minister.

Mr Quin takes up his new position following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s cabinet reshuffle. The Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has retained his position.

Mr Quin has served as the MP for Horsham since the 2015. His appointment as Minister for Defence Procurement comes after having previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary at the Cabinet Office – a position he only assumed on 16 December 2019.

 

Mr Quin’s new responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of the Equipment Plan
  • Nuclear enterprise
  • Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) reform
  • Defence exports
  • Innovation
  • Defence science and technology including Dstl
  • Information computer technology
  • The Single Source Regulations Office(SSRO)
  • DIO estates and investment
  • Environment and sustainability

 

Outgoing Minister James Heappey tweeted his delight to be taking up his new position as Minister for the Armed Forces. He wrote: ‘Truly honoured to be moving a few offices down the corridor at

@DefenceHQ to become Minister for the Armed Forces.’
