CONNECTING THE DEFENCE COMMUNITY WITH INSIGHT, INTELLIGENCE & OPPORTUNITIES

Defence Procurement, Research, Technology & Exportability (DPRTE) 2020, the sector’s premier procurement event, will take place at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre on 3 September.

The event’s Prime Contractor and Supply Chain Zone will provide visitors with an unrivalled opportunity to engage directly with many of the key Prime Contractors currently working with the MOD.

In 2017/18 the Ministry of Defence managed approximately £20.9 billion of third-party procurement spend. The size and complexity of many projects requires the Department to work closely with key industry partners to ensure delivery of the defence programme, with over half of the annual spend flowing through 19 Strategic Suppliers.

These are Airbus, Babcock, BAE Systems, Boeing, Capita, Cobham, DXC, General Dynamics, KBR, Leidos, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, QinetiQ, Raytheon, Rolls-Royce, Serco, Thales and Ultra-Electronics.

The MOD spends approximately £835 million per annum directly with SMEs, but the majority of opportunities lie within the supply chain.

The use of competition is encouraged wherever appropriate both within direct contract opportunities and throughout the supply chain. Opportunities, therefore, exist for suppliers of all sizes, from large established defence contractors through to innovative smaller businesses.

As outlined within the National Security Strategy and Strategic Defence and Security Review 2015, the MOD is committed to enabling SMEs and non-traditional suppliers to bid for defence and security contracts more easily.

One important element of efforts to achieve this is the MOD working with its Prime Contractors to maximise opportunities for the marketplace through transparency of supply chain competition.

The Supply Chain Engagement Pavilion will bring together many of the key Prime Contractors currently engaged within the delivery of MOD projects, allowing visitors to book appointments for 1-2-1 meetings. Delegates can also visit the Supply Chain Knowledge Transfer Zone, which will see some of the Prime Contractors deliver sessions on supply chain opportunities available as part of current/future projects.

Participants confirmed so far include Airbus and QinetiQ with more set to be announced soon.

Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are now available. For further details, please email exhibitions@dprte.co.uk or call 0845 270 7066.
