Unisys Corporation has been selected to participate in the US Army Program for Cloud Hosting Services.

Working through the Army Cloud Computing Enterprise Transformation (ACCENT) Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA), the programme is estimated to be worth some $247M.

Over a three-year period, ACCENT BOA will provide a vehicle for organisations within the Army to transition workloads and applications to the cloud. Additional services such as security and application analysis, planning and business process reengineering, will also be provided.

“We look forward to opportunities under this BOA to help the Army obtain the efficiencies and cost savings inherent in the cloud,” said Jennifer Napper, group vice president for Department of Defense and intelligence agencies, Unisys Federal. “With our proven track record of helping more than 20 US federal agencies successfully move to the cloud, Unisys is uniquely positioned to help the Army achieve its goal.”

The appointment of Unisys follows the company’s previous success in securely transitioning enterprise applications to the cloud for government and private sector clients; Unisys helped the Department of the Interior to become the first US federal organisation to move its financial management system to the cloud.
