Rheinmetall to supply ammo for USAF F-35s

Rheinmetall has secured a $6.5m contract from the US Air Force to supply ammunition for the F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter. The new 25mm x 137 Frangible Armour Piercing (FAP) ammo was developed in collaboration with NATO air forces to provide the F-35 with superior lethality against modern infantry fighting vehicles and enemy aircraft in air-to-air engagements.
