Worth some £35M over five years, the contract will be carried out at Amec Foster Wheeler’s offices in Warrington and Dorchester, securing 70 highly skilled jobs. Experienced technicians will carry out analysis and laboratory testing, including programme, project and technical management services of a number of critical areas of capability such as materials performance, materials science, modelling, code development, thermal hydraulics and non-destructive testing and examination.
An expert in designing, delivering and maintaining strategic and complex assets for its customers across the global energy and related sectors, Amec Foster Wheeler has provided support to the NNPP for several, with the new contract securing this relationship.
Defence Minister Harriett Baldwin, said: “Long-term investment in innovative research and technology like this is absolutely essential to ensuring that Britain’s nuclear programme remains cutting-edge.
“Underpinned by the UK’s rising Defence budget and £178Bn 10-year equipment plan, this new deal will help protect Britain and secure scores of highly skilled jobs in Warrington and Dorset.”
