The UK Defence Solutions Centre (UKDSC) is part of the Defence Growth Partnership (DGP) which offers collaborative support to UK companies competing in the global defence market. It is an independent partnership between the UK Government and the UK defence industry.
At the recent Farnborough International Airshow Defence Secretary Michael Fallon MP welcomed three new organisations to the membership of the UKDSC, including Cranfield.
Mr Fallon was given a tour of the UKDSC at the show where he met representatives of Cranfield, including Dr Simon Harwood, Director of Defence and Security.
Mr Fallon said: “The Defence Growth Partnership brings together the best minds in the defence industry and is a fine example of British initiative.”
UKDSC Chief Executive Steve Brittan added: “The Defence Growth Partnership is all about ensuring the UK remains at the forefront of the global defence market. Through the UKDSC, we’ve been able to demonstrate that great innovation exists here in the UK which will serve the needs of both our Armed Forces and international customers.”
After meeting with the Defence Secretary, Dr Harwood commented: “Cranfield University is delighted to become an associate member of the UKDSC. As one of the world’s leading universities for defence and security research and education, we look forward to supporting the efforts of the consortium through thought leadership, practical education and research to help deliver innovative and tailored world-class defence solutions.”
